Scout had a rough time finding a forever home, his first family wasn't able to really take care of him. A nice large family decided to take Scout and Bear in and add them to their lives. Unfortunately tragedy struck for Scout and Bear once again when a freak tornado came through Port Orchard destroying a small suburban community and hitting the street and home that Scout and Bear were home in while their family was out.
Luckily there were no injuries or fatalities. However the home was no longer livable. The family had to split up to find temporary housing and Scout and Bear were needing foster. The rescue took them in to provide them emergency foster, however due to the length of time and needs of Scout and Bear for some rehab still they ended up being surrendered to the rescue. Scout and Bear went on their recovery journey and Bear was able to find a home, but Scout wanted a home as an only child to be spoiled and have someone all to himself. We searched high and low for his perfect family that would be home to love him all the time and take him everywhere and meet everything on his wish list. Scout is an awesome active yet loving 4-5 year old Yorkie man. He is always excited to see his people come home and is quick to give you a kiss and jump up for cuddle time. He loves being around his humans, going for walks and getting excited over the little things in life. Scout can be playful but is happy to get belly rubs on the couch as well. He does gets very worked up over cats and small animals so was so excited when he got a family with a yard to chase squirrels out of and protect all to himself as an only child. He was more than excited to have a mom and a dad who were retired and would get to give him alllll the attention. It was quite the drive to meet this wonderful family but it was more than worth it. He'd finally found his perfect home, and was adopted forever more!

Sunny is a gorgeous double yellow headed amazon who was in his mid to late 20's when arriving at the rescue. He lived most of his life with an older woman who adored him and taught him how to sing "you are my sunshine" which he does in an almost opera voice at times. He also could say his name, hello, god bless you, and I love you. He was the sweetest and most mannered and respectful little man you'd have the pleasure of meeting. He did like to sing the song of his people twice a day and had quite the voice but otherwise wasn't a constant screamer.
Sunny didn't mind getting scratches when you asked, or just sitting and watching t.v. on the couch with you (even if you binge watched shows). He would absolutely adore the shower and misting times and couldn't get enough of it until he was one wet soggy birdy. His original owner eventually was no longer able to care for him appropriately due to age and wanted to ensure that he was in the right hands. She lovingly surrendered Sunny and we all could tell it was one of the hardest moments of their lives. Sunny had a long recovery and had to get medical and holistic care for quite awhile before becoming adoptable. Once he was adoptable he was in search of the perfect match regardless of gender or anything else, he was just looking for his person. His fairy tail ending came in the form of a woman who obviously kind and patient that Sunny knew he could trust her and get to know her! He was so happy when she agreed to be his human and adopted him into his forever home. We all knew this woman was someone special in this world and that Sunny was so fortunate to meet someone as unique as he was himself in having all the kindness and patients in the world. Suzie is a sweet Hahns macaw which is the smallest type of mini macaw but with all the personality. She adores to talk to you, say “Hi Suzie”, will laugh all day long for you and loves to hum along to a good song. She likes to be out with her person all day long and even travel in a carrier and go on a trip with you. She likes to chatter even if just mimicking the idea of sounds to think she’s participating in your conversation.
Suzie's owners both ended up with a cancer diagnosis within 10 months of each other and had to give her up when care became too difficult. We knew she hadn't been able to bond to people for awhile due to their medical health and so while she was wanting to bond she was testing the waters on trusting people. She needed someone patient that would be her own and only that she could attach to, she was quite the little velcro personality. She got her vetting all done and checked out to find a new home at the end of her rehab. She'd also made great progress on getting to know people but was still generally shy up front. That is until HER person walked through the door. Neither her person, nor did we know when they walked through the door. But Suzie did. When she saw this young woman she did everything in her power to get her attention. Once she had her attention the woman immediately reached out to engage with her, and Suzie responded with blind trust and unconditional love. When the woman left, Suzie attempted to call her back and we were hopeful that woman would send in an application on Suzie, but it only took a short while after leaving that we received the amazing news and an application! The adoption process was completed and upon arrival to her new home, Suzie immediately jumped onto her mom's shoulder and began loving on her. We knew then and there that it was Suzie who had adopted this woman, and she had simply accepted. A meant to be, forever home, and unbreakable bond. Congratulations Suzie, you knew just how to pick an amazing person! MoMo is a young Sun Conure who is healthy, happy and well adjusted. He's an amazing cuddler, tries to speak in his garbble tone but does his best to talk, can be loud as all Sun Conures are, did I mention LOVES to cuddle? He is gorgeous and has a personality you won't want to pass up. He doesn't have a lot of interest in other birds, sometimes chitters across the room to them but over all just wants to hang with his people. He loves being out of his cage most of the time and adores learning new tricks.
MoMo's greatest wish for a home was someone who would spend lots of time teaching him new skills and letting him cuddle and be out. Who didn't mind his loud voice or his happy chirps, and of course who fed him lots of food. That boy could eat. He also knew exactly what he wanted in a human and met lots of great people, but was searching for a particular spark, that special feeling. Then he met his new dad! MoMo loved playing with his new dad and got super excited after meeting him, wearing himself out until he needed a nap. He did manage to steal his dad's gf's jewelry just to ensure they'd come back and adopt him after his meet and greet. Happy adoption and forever home MoMo we're so happy you found (and stole) your forever family! Fargo is an amazing little bird with such personality. He is a sweet funny little cockatiel who has alllll the confidence in the world. He ADORES being out and on your shoulder, even if you're just working or playing on the computer or watching t.v.
He will do a high pitch chirp when he hears you come home until you let him join you and is very sociable. Unfortunately Fargo's previous owner who attempted to give him all the love he needed was no longer able to provide for his needs and give him the attention he deserved. To ensure he found the most appropriate fit he was surrendered to the rescue. He got his check up, quarantine and excelled in his foster home. His foster moved away and he had a temporary stay at the sanctuary where he showed his love and confidence of everyone who came in and all the volunteers. His search for a home began but many who scheduled meet and greets didn't show up and Fargo was left singing to himself waiting. He never let this get his hopes and dreams down and kept his cheery, entertaining and confident personality. One day a young man who had spent a lot of time with other birds and getting to know the care and needs came to meet a bird to see if he could find a match. He met some of the adoptables but Fargo stole the show, his heart, and his shoulder. It wasn't long after that the request came through and was enthusiastically accepted for Fargo to be adopted! Fargo now has a large family to dote on him and a young man of his own to spoil him. Happy adoption Fargo! |
