Whinny, Fawn and Scout find a home These three little girls came from an extremely dire life or death situation. A once good home was unable to maintain their goats after being diagnosed with dementia. A friend realized the situation and the dying, uncared for goats, needing immediate rescue and was able to gain surrender of the remaining goats and pull them off the property and involve animal control. With the help of Melt My Heart and another amazing goat rescue we were able to get placement for all 14 goats into necessary care right away. Whinny, Fawn and Scout went to an experienced goat foster who kept them in quarantine while all their vetting and tests were completed. Unfortunately, they did have a condition that required they be the only goats for the rest of their lives. With this in mind it was set out to find a special family who would love these three very tiny girls to the fullest regardless of their condition and would be happy only ever having three goats. We ended up finding an amazing family who was looking for just a small herd of little goats and was more than happy to provide them with all the luxuries they hadn’t gotten to experience! Their recovery included medicated baths, special treatments and more but they finally got to go home after finishing their treatment. In their new home they were originally confused as to what all these toys were and this amazing grass and soft clean beds in the shelter were for. They’d only been kept in a crammed and crowded dog kennel with no shelter and other dying or dead goats, and layers upon layers of filth. Fawn and Scout were not only malnourished but their skin had caked on dried urine. Their hooves were drastically over grown, and their digestive system was abnormal. Their treatment was successful despite they will forever have their condition that was explained to their new owner. Their new owner went through great lengths to research, prepare and accept these little girls into their loving family. The perfect match was found on a small family farm <3 *Update* This little trio turned out to have a special surprise after being adopted, one had a very early pregnancy that went undetected during her treatment and despite all the hardships and malnourished and neglected harsh conditions she KEPT that pregnancy all the way to term and had 2 healthy babies!! These miracle babies now live with their mama, and 2 aunts to make an adorable herd of 5!

Java is like a Disney princess. She was that gorgeous girl waiting for true love, and waiting was the largest part of her young life. She had an encounter with evil that set her off her long wait but Java never lost hope. Java waited every day on a porch, chained in a small area, surrounded by nothing but her own filth. She had a litter of puppies from inbreeding to her brother who were sold and given away. She was used, neglected and abandoned. Still, she waited and never lost hope for her fairy tale. Melt My Heart Rescue and Sanctuary was out to pick up supplies when they noticed her and inquired, to which they were told not to get involved. So, they got involved. Turned out that Java was sparsely being cared for by a big hearted but disabled man who was unable to take on their full care and had reported her situation to authorities. Unfortunately, he was in an under manned area and authorities were no where to be found after multiple attempts. Luckily he was able to contact the owners directly and it was clear Java was waiting in vain, at least for her once “family” who one of which was in jail and the other had left town with no plans to come back for Java or desire for her. Java came home with the Melt My Heart family and was assessed, vetted and began work on some manners as she had no semblance of being a family pup, household dog, or how to handle all her energy and excitement. After all she wasn’t given the opportunity to be the puppy she still was herself! After a long process of getting ready for a family the search began and Java’s hopes held up. She waited patiently, posed for pictures, cuddled on strangers, greeted kids, went to events, spread the word. But there was nothing. She waited. For about a year. Barely a single inquiry to gaining a forever family, and those who did never made it out to meet her. But she still waited and held onto her happy hopeful demeanor. Then it came. An application came through, and a family drove a long drive out just to meet her. They noticed her, even over all the pups at the sanctuary, SHE was the special one. No one over shadowed her! Her people had found her, they’d come to break the spell of bad luck and grant her every wish! Oh, trust me she knew this, she was in love already. Then they went home. Java wasn’t sure what was going on, just that she was still at the sanctuary, and although she loved it there, she felt those were her people. Little did she know those people were getting all their paperwork filled out cause they made it OFFICIAL! Java went home to her new family and met her fur siblings, her neighbors and fellow kids, and got to know her new house… oh and CHEESE. Don’t forget she got introduced to cheese. That was like the Disney princess kiss of approval. Later Java visited the sanctuary when her family had to go out of town for a bit, she was happy to visit and play with her former pack that took care of her while she was waiting for her throne. She knew her family would be back. After her vacation back with the sanctuary residents she went back to her new home and happily trotted inside, it was apparent she knew it was home. Java truly did get her fairy tale beginning and is living the good life now, and we’re excited to say we get updates of how great she’s doing regularly! They are all family now <3 |
